Event Name:  Catch of the Day: Recovery of the Lake Murray B-25

Description of Event:: 

  See images of the recovery process of a World War II bomber that had been at the bottom of Lake Murray, South Carolina for more than 62 years until it was finally recovered in 2005.  Photograhs, artifacts from the plane and a computer with multiple images of the entire recovery process will be on display.

August 28 - Free Shred Day sponsored by Carolina Records & Information Management, Congaree State Bank, and the West Metro Chamber of Commerce. Bring personal documents for shredding to Congaree State Bank's Cayce location at 1201 Knox Abbott Drive between the hours of 9am-2pm and 3pm-7pm. Bogarts Restaurant and Krispy Kreme will also be participating in the event with some great food and coupons. 

 


September 6 - Creating Rain Gardens, Columbia Green's annual Educational Event. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Woodley's Garden Center on Two Notch Road. Speaker Tom Falvey will discuss rain garden basics, including construction, plant choices, benefits and maintenance. Plants suitable for rain gardens will be available for purchase. Admission to the event is free to all Columbia Green members and $10 for non-members.

WHAT: "Reel Action" Festival of Film and Outdoors

WHERE: Columbia's Nickelodeon Theater

WHAT: An amateur do-it-yourself film contest featuring fun in the outdoors.  Five winning films will be screened at Columbia's Nickelodeon Theater on Saturday, October 11, 2008.  Entrants should submit films that are no longer than 10 minutes, are entertaining and set in the outdoors. The winning films will be chosen by a select group of judges and will be eligible to receive prizes up to $500.00.
